What is Rateable Value?

www.gov.uk/voa/contactAll business property has a rateable value unless it is specifically exempt from rates - (see are all businesses rateable)

Following the 2010 revaluation, the rateable value broadly represents the annual rent the property could have been let for on the open market in 2008.

This is assessed by the:

There will be further revaluations for all property every five years to keep rateable values up to date and so ensure that each ratepayer's bill is fair in relation to others.
