Heanor Masterplan

Masterplan for Heanor

A regeneration Masterplan proposing a range of potential opportunities to bring about long term economic development for Heanor town centre is now available on the Amber Valley Borough Council website.

Amber Valley Borough Council commissioned the study, which outlines a long-term vision for Heanor. The Masterplan puts forward a strategic development plan to deliver a regenerated town centre where people want to work, live, learn, shop and socialise in more attractive surroundings and safer streets.

To guide future developments Amber Valley Borough Council will need the support of the local community and businesses, to be partners in this forward-looking project, and to aid in boosting confidence to signal the transformation of our town centre.

Amber Valley Borough Council is working with a range of partners through the Heanor Regeneration Partnership and the Heanor Town Team to develop and implement projects to assist with the regeneration the town.  Projects have included the demolition of derelict buildings that created a blight on the towns gateways as well as other physical improvements.  Investment and support towards the installation of super fast broadband into the Heanor Gate Industrial Park to assist making its world leading businesses more competitive and able to employ more people.

Amber Valley Borough Council is supporting the Heanor Traders Association to revitalise the market and attract new traders.  Through the town team we are working on a series of events to bring people back into the town centre, this also includes using local artists to improve the appearance of empty shops through the Shop Art and the Heanor Shutters and Boards Project.  Through working in partnership with our local partners Amber Valley Borough Council hope to continue to push forward and meet the vision set out in the Masterplan for the regeneration of Heanor town centre.

The Heanor Shop Front Improvement Grant Scheme was introduced to offer shop traders in the town the chance to re-vitalise their business premises with a grant to help with the costs of new signage, doors, windows, paint work and brickwork.  This is proving hugely popular amongst traders in Heanor and is contributing towards the masterplan vision.  Click here for more information on the Heanor Shop Front Improvement Grant Scheme
