Changes are being made to the Borough Council car parking
charges, including the introduction of evening charges in the
majority of Borough's Pay and Display Car Parks. It follows a
decision made by Council earlier this year to ensure a sustainable
future for the car parks in Amber Valley.
People using the car parks from Wednesday October 5 are
being urged to take special note of the signs in the car parks to
make sure they're aware of the new tariffs which also include an
extension of the disabled parking provision in short stay car parks
from two hours to three hours.
Amber Valley residents are reminded that a free permit can
be obtained which allows parking for free in all the car parks from
4pm until 8am each day (10am in Heanor) and all day
Councillor Jack Brown MBE, Cabinet Member for Green and
Thriving Places to Live said: "The overall revised charges, which
were approved by Council in February this year are aimed at
reducing congestion near to the more well used car parks whilst
encouraging the use of the under utilised car parks. The
income will ensure that the car parks are sustainable for the long
term. I'd urge people who are used to parking in the evenings to
look at the signs so they know the revised charges."
Notes to editors: Amber
Valley residents can obtain permits by taking their vehicle
log book to any town centre office.
