Villagers invited to have their say

People living in the western parishes of Amber Valley are invited to attend the Council's latest Have Your Say event where the public can take part in a question and answer session with the Council's Cabinet. This month's event is targeted at people living in the villages of Alderwasley, Alton, Ashleyhay, Hazelwood, Idridgehay, Kedleston, Kirk Langley, Mackworth, Mugginton, Quarndon, Ravensdale Park, Shottle & Postern, Turnditch, Weston Underwood and Windley.

It's part of the Council's bid to take Cabinet on the road and to attract more people to participate in the decision making process and get any matters of concern addressed. Recent events in Belper, Ripley, Alfreton and Heanor have proved successful with the public prompting discussions on a number of issues from major land use proposals to recycling, amongst other council issues. This is your chance to speak out or to direct a question to the Council Leader himself or a member of the Cabinet with a specific responsibility and to meet other people in your community.

Councillor Stuart Bradford, Leader of Amber Valley Borough Council said: "It's more of a challenge to assemble and meet with people in the rural communities about what we're doing as a Council, so this represents a strong commitment by the Cabinet and other members to meet with residents and in return give them the opportunity meet with 'face to face' the people who have been elected to make the decisions in the Borough, on their doorstep". The events are also attended by partners such as the Police, Fire Service and other organisations relevant to the public.

The event takes place on Wednesday, 26 October from 6pm until 7pm at St Paul's Church Hall in Church Road, Quarndon. The Council's Cabinet meeting will follow in the same venue. There's no need to confirm attendance. Just turn up.

Questions can also be submitted in advance of the event by using the Council's online facility at www.communityforums.org.uk and completing the form in the bottom right hand corner of the home page.
