A38 Clean-up bags a mountain of litter

A massive 623 bags of rubbish were collected in a three night clean-up of verges on the A38 in Amber Valley this week.

The clean-up takes place once a year and requires a lane of the dual carriageway to be shut during the operation. A team of 9 Operatives, worked in three separate gangs over the three night operation.

The Council estimates that the clean-up cost around £18,500 and is asking motorists to dispose of litter appropriately and for drivers of commercial vehicles to ensure their loads are properly secured to prevent litter on the scale recently seen.
