Let’s get this party started

Amber Valley is being encouraged to make the Queen’s 90th birthday a local occasion to remember by taking the party out on the streets!

The Government’s Department for Communities and Local Government is taking the strain out of the organisation by providing a step-by-step guide with practical advice for anyone looking to hold a street party.

The Guide addresses some of the popular myths about street parties and sets the record straight on what is actually needed – including information on road closures, charges, playing music, insurance, and fund raising, alongside links to organisations who can offer further support.

Amber Valley Borough Council will be supporting local residents in trying to overcome any barriers there may be that stand in the way of local areas holding small private street parties.

The guidance includes a simple form which can be used to let the Council know about your plans, and apply for a road closure.

Commented Environment Portfolio Holder, Cllr David Wilson: “This is a fantastic opportunity to mark a momentous occasion and give it a truly local flavour. Street parties are also a wonderful way of bringing communities together. I hope Amber Valley celebrates in style.”
