Old People’s Groups Council grants

Old People’s Clubs around Amber Valley will benefit by more than £2,000 if the Borough Council’s Cabinet votes to accept a recommendation when it meets on 7 December.

Within its commitment to award grants to voluntary bodies in the Borough, the Council will pledge a total of £2,146.00 to 19 Old People’s Clubs. Grants will range from £50 to £219 and will go to the following;

  • Amber Valley Stroke Group
  • Belper School Private Fund Community Lunch Club
  • Belper Stroke Club 

  • Codnor Park & Ironville OAP Club 

  • Crich & Neighbourhood Community Care Scheme 

  • Duffield & District Old People’s Welfare Association 

  • Fritchley & District OAP Association 

  • The Greenhillock’s Fellowship 

  • Holbrook Friendship Club 

  • Horsley Over 60’s 

  • Horsley Woodhouse Ladies Group 

  • Horsley Woodhouse Over 60 Club 

  • Quarndon Friendship Group 

  • Ripley Neighbourhood Care Scheme 

  • Ripley OAP Association 

  • Sawmills Over 60’s Club 

  • St. James Church of England Starter & Sweet Club 

  • Swanwick Luncheon Club 

  • Tuesday Club - Openwoodgate 



It was also recommended that grants be awarded to 1st Ripley Guides - £100, 3rd Codnor Scout Group - £100 and Aim Exelsum School of Music - £100.

Commented Leader of the Council, Cllr Kevin Buttery: “Even though the current economic climate is incredibly challenging for the Council we still feel it is important that groups like these, who are providing such a valuable community resource, and who are positively affecting so many of our residents, should still be supported.”
