Armistice Day Rockets

We would like to alert everyone in the town centres of Alfreton, Belper, Heanor and Ripley who will be observing the two minutes’ silence on Armistice Day, Saturday 11 November, that there will be no maroon rockets marking the start of the silence.

Although the simulated cannon fire was a part of the two minutes’ silence for many years, it was not possible to use maroons last year because of an EU safety directive which meant the sole supplier had to withdraw them from sale.

The two minutes’ silence will of course still take place.
