Positive reaction to new Garden Waste Collection Service

Collections have now started on the Council's new chargeable garden waste service with more than 11,000 households having signed up to the scheme.

Places are still available for any residents wishing to join the scheme but anyone still thinking of subscribing is encouraged to sign up as soon as possible to avoid missing collections as the fee remains the same throughout the collection period.  Details of the charges are available on the garden waste webpage.

Cabinet Member for Environment, Cllr Chris Short commented: “The response by residents to the introduction of charges for the garden waste collection service has been fantastic and demonstrates the quality and popularity of the service we provide. The Council is committed to protecting the Environment and residents have clearly shown they appreciate and support our efforts.”
