Revolution in the reception!

Visitors to Amber Valley Borough Council’s reception at its Ripley headquarters will be treated to a fascinating history lesson over the coming months, if they choose to study an excellent display telling the story of The Pentrich Revolution – 200 years ago.

Created by the Pentrich and South Wingfield Revolution Group, the display commemorates the bicentenary of The Pentrich Revolution ( 1817 - 2017 ).

It consists of 46 prints of paintings by local professional and amateur artists accompanied by a written explanation of what each painting represents. The collection tells the whole story of The Pentrich Revolution visually. There are various supporting leaflets and newsletters to provide further information for people who are interested.

This display will be replaced over the summer with an historical exhibition with details of the men who took part in the rising and accompanying family trees so local people can see if they are descended from a revolutionary!

New material will continue to be added throughout the remainder of 2017 – 2018.

This Group’s work is supported by a grant of £66,000 from The Heritage Lottery Fund.
