Staff raise money for animal charity
26 October 2006
Employees from Amber Borough Council have raised nearly £140 for the People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals by donating books for a sale on Ripley Market Place.
Council employees Paula Parkin and Shelly Webster organised the book sale on Friday 13 October and entertained customers by donning canine costumes. They said: “We would like to thank all of our colleagues who donated books and the visitors to the market who snapped up our bargains.”
The PDSA is the UK’s leading veterinary charity the largest private employer of fully qualified veterinary surgeons and nurses in Europe. In 2007, it will celebrate 90 years of caring for the sick and injured animals of people in need.
