Amber Valley Sports Awards

Sporting heroes nominated by Amber Valley residents were honoured during the Borough Council’s first ever Sports Awards Evening.

Councillor John Nelson, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure Development, presented the winners with their awards at Belper Town Football Club on Monday 23 October.

The winners in the fourteen award categories were:

Junior Sportsman of the Year - James Foskett

Junior Sportswoman of the Year - Millie Tomlinson

Junior Disabled Sportsman of the Year - Tom Hall-Butcher

Junior Disabled Sportswoman of the Year - Katie Thompson

Sportsperson of the Year - Ross Davenport

Disabled Sportsperson of the Year - David Ellis

Veteran Sportsperson of the Year - Gillian Henshaw

Contribution to School Sport - Chris Hill

Performance Coach of the Year - Jim Feeney

Community Coach of the Year - John Chambers

Young Sports Leader or Coach of the Year - Rachel Albrighton

Service to Sport Award - Dave Orford

Club of the Year - Belper Hockey Club Team of the Year - Belper Ladies’ Hockey Club (Under Fifteen Girls’ Team)

The Amber Valley winners were automatically nominated for the county-wide sports awards alongside winners from similar schemes run by the other district and borough councils in Derbyshire.

The following Amber Valley winners won Derbyshire Sports Awards - Tom Hall-Butcher, Katie Thompson and Ross Davenport.

The following Amber Valley winners were runners up in the Derbyshire Sports Awards - David Ellis and the Under Fifteen Girls’ Team from Belper Ladies’ Hockey Club.
