Canine Christmas Gift

Dog owners in Amber Valley will be able to buy discounted identichips for their pets this Christmas.

As a special Christmas gift, the Council’s Dog Wardens are temporarily reducing their identichipping charge from £17.63 to £11.75. Dog owners who want to take advantage of this festive offer should telephone the Council on 01773 841335 during December.

Councillor Les Dorey, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, Safety and Housing, said: “Identichips offer peace of mind to dog owners. They are no bigger than a grain of rice and can be implanted quickly and painlessly into a dog’s neck.

“Lots of dogs go missing during the festive season. If they cannot be identified, they have to be taken to kennels and may even end up at a rescue centre. Dog wardens, vets and kennels have scanners that allow them to read the information stored on identichips. This means they can return dogs to their owners without delay.”
