Charity receives donations

A charity dedicated to improving quality of life in Belper and Milford has received more than £350 in donations.
The Herbert Strutt Charity has received:
- £99.70 from Fleet Arts - the proceeds from the organisation’s 21st birthday raffle;
- £124 from the Derbyshire Archery Club – the proceeds from an archery evening staged by the club; and
- £134.96 from Amber Valley Councillor John Nelson who is a member of the Herbert Strutt Charity’s joint management committee – the proceeds from the ‘Guess the Weight of the Pumpkin’ competition that the councillor organised.
The Herbert Strutt Charity has spent more than £150,000 improving the quality of people’s lives in Belper and Milford since it was set up by Amber Valley Borough Council and Belper Town Council in 1986.
The key aims of the charity are to: ·
- provide relief for residents who are sick, distressed, elderly or poor;
- provide recreation and leisure opportunities; and
- provide and support educational facilities.
