Council protecting grade II listed building
27 November 2006
The owner of Wingfield Station was found guilty of failing to comply with two untidy land notices by Southern Derbyshire Magistrates on Wednesday 15 November.
The notices that Amber Valley Borough Council served to Paul Robin Gibbons on Tuesday 7 February 2006 required him to:
- clear rubbish, refuse and undergrowth from the station site and leave it in a clean and tidy condition
- remove railway carriages and other non-roadworthy vehicles from the site together with all other engine and vehicle component parts
- remove all self-seeded saplings from the site
- repair and, where necessary, replace the external fabric of the station buildings
- remove a mound of asphalt and other materials from the site, leaving the land in a clean and tidy condition
- remove all young trees within four metres of the walls of the station buildings
The notices specified that Mr Gibbons should complete points 1 to 3 by Sunday 7 May 2006 and points 4 to 6 by Tuesday 6 June 2006.
Mr Gibbons, who lives at Wingfield Station, was ordered to pay fines of £800 and £1,550 costs.
Amber Valley Borough Council served untidy land notices to Mr Gibbons under section 215 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990.
