Noise complaints prompt licence restrictions
21 November 2006
A pub in Ripley has been temporarily banned from providing musical entertainment following a review of its premises licence.
When it met on Tuesday 14 November, Amber Valley Borough Council’s Licensing Board decided to prevent the Talbot from providing the following for three months:
- music-making facilities (eg karaoke machines or juke boxes)
Even once the three-month ban has ended, the pub’s ability to provide musical entertainment will be restricted. This is because the board decided to permanently cut by an hour the time that the Talbot is allowed to carry out the following activities each day:
- the provision of public entertainment;
- the sale and supply of alcohol; and
- the provision of late night refreshment.
At the same meeting, the Licensing Board also decided to cut the pub’s permitted opening times by an hour each day.
The review of the pub’s premises licence was carried out following complaints from the public about noise.
