Winter Warmth Freebies

21 November 2006

Free Winter Warmth packs will be up for grabs during the Council’s energy advice mornings in Alfreton, Belper, Heanor and Ripley.

The dates, times and venues are listed below:

  • Friday 1 December – 10am to midday - Alfreton Indoor Market
  • Tuesday 12 December - 9.30am to midday - Ripley Town Centre Office, Market Place, Ripley
  • Thursday 14 December - 9.30am to midday - Belper Town Centre Office, King Street, Belper
  • Friday 15 December - 9.30am to midday - Heanor Town Centre Office, Market Place, Heanor

Every Winter Warmth pack contains two room thermometers, information about how to keep warm, energy-saving tips and details of how to apply for home insulation grants.

While stocks last at each venue, borough residents who provide proof that they receive a qualifying income or disability benefit will also be able to claim:

  • a pack of two low-energy light bulbs for lamps; and
  • an energy-saving computer plug.

The lightbulbs last up to 12 times longer than normal light bulbs and save around £100 each in energy costs during the course of their life.

The PowerDown plug is designed for use with desk-top personal computers and saves around £16 each year in energy costs. It also offers surge protection and reduces electrical interference to televisions and radios.

The light bulb and computer plug giveaway is limited to one per household.
