Council elections

People who wish to stand in the Amber Valley elections on Thursday 3 May must submit their nomination papers between Wednesday 28 March and midday on Wednesday 4 April.

Every parish council in Amber Valley is holding elections and 15 of the 45 seats on the Borough Council are up for election. One seat is up for election in each of the following Council wards: Alfreton; Alport; Belper Central; Belper East; Belper North; Belper South; Crich; Duffield; Heage & Ambergate; Kilburn, Denby & Holbrook; Ripley; Ripley & Marehay; South West Parishes; Swanwick; Wingfield.

Nomination papers can be obtained from Ripley Town Hall and should be returned there once completed.

All candidates will be issued with a copy of the Council’s Code of Conduct for political parties, agents and candidates handling applications for postal votes. The code sets out acceptable standards of behaviour and highlights a number of electoral and general offences that candidates and agents should be aware of during their campaigns.

Candidates will also be invited to signal their commitment to harmonious relations between the diverse communities within the borough by signing the Local Election Compact for Amber Valley.
