Free business events

People in Amber Valley who want to run their own businesses can sign up for free ‘Starting in Business’ seminars.

Amber Valley Borough Council has once again joined forces with Business Link Derbyshire to run the ‘Business Start Up’ events.

Details of the dates and venues are listed below:

• Wednesday 21 February 2007 at the Lion Hotel on Bridge Street in Belper, 5pm to 7.30pm; and
• Wednesday 21 March 2007 at the Genesis Centre on King Street in Alfreton, 5pm – 7.30pm

During 2006/2007, the Council’s Business Skills Programme ran 18 business training events for a total of 154 delegates. As a result, seventeen businesses have started and thirty-five jobs have been created.

Councillor Stephen Hayes, the Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said: “This is a successful training programme. It not only helps people into business but also raises serious questions and helps re-focus those who are not quite ready for that major leap.”
