Iron in the Blood

07 March 2007

Iron in the Blood - a collection of community stories by Ironville residents that celebrate the unique and extraordinary nature of life in the village – will be launched on Saturday 31 March.

Writers Kevin Fegan and Roy Bainton have gathered local people’s stories and presented them as a selection of creative poems and articles. The book also includes winning entries from an Ironville creative writing competition judged by Kevin and Roy.

Members of the public are invited to attend the launch party, which will take place at Ironville Village Hall on Casson Street between 4pm and 7pm. Refreshments will be provided during the event.

Iron in the Blood was commissioned by Artery, Amber Valley’s Arts and Health Initiative and is jointly published by Artery and the Amber Valley Partnership’s Healthier Communities Project.

The book is a follow up to A Will of Iron - Kevin Fegan’s epic poem about the history of Ironville which was commissioned by Artery and the Healthier Communities project in 2004.

Note to Editors

Artery is funded by Arts Council England and supported by Amber Valley Borough Council. The project provides a sustainable programme of community arts and health activity that addresses health inequalities and improves wellbeing through engagement in the arts.
