Clean, Green Landscaping Team

04 April 2007

Amber Valley Borough Council is committed to improving the environment in which we live and work and has created a new Unit called Landscape Services, which has now become fully operational since it was established in October last year.

Landscape Services is responsible for Cleansing and Landscape maintenance operations and Parks and Open Spaces improvements throughout the Borough. Improvements have already begun at Crossley Park, Ripley and Belper Parks Local Nature Reserve, and further improvements are scheduled for other parks in the next few years.

Making the difference in Amber Valley takes team work. Crossley Park Community Association is working closely with the Council showing partnership working at its best. The important link in any improvement starts with the community, the Council needs you to support its efforts and report instances of environmental crime such as vandalism and fly tipping, which is the first step to improving Amber Valley together.

Keeping Amber Valley clean and green is a full time job so the Unit has begun seven day working to provide a service at weekends, and has split the workforce into four neighbourhood teams based on the four towns that are forging close links with the community and providing a quick response to service requests.

The Unit is also responsible for Council owned car parks, cemeteries, and street cleanliness, and for delivering education and enforcement to prevent fly tipping, littering, graffiti and vandalism.

To help with this huge task seven new Community Officers have been appointed. They will be liaising with the public in various ways to help combat environmental crime and are easily noticeable in their smart green uniforms. You can approach them in your neighbourhood for a chat about your concerns or report it to the Landscape Services Helpline Tel: 01773 841572.
