Transport and Industry Around Heanor 1800-2000

An exhibition charting Transport and Industry around Heanor from 1800 to 2000 presented by the Heanor and District Local History Society is set to go on display at the Borough Council’s Tourist Information Centre in Ripley.

The themes of transport and industry will be covered by photographs, maps, booklets, advertising material and artefacts. There will be written interpretation information on the various forms of transport seen in the area such as canals, railways, tram and trolley bus routes and also on the local industries of mining, textiles, engineering, pottery etc.

The free exhibition will be on display between Tuesday 3 July and Monday 30 July. The Tourist Information Centre is situated in the Town Hall on Ripley Market Place. The centre is normally open on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays between 9.30am and 5.30pm, on Wednesdays between 10am and 5.30pm and on Saturdays between 9.30am and 3pm. On Wednesday 18 July, the Centre will close at 4.00pm instead of 5.30pm.
