An exhibition to mark the 100th anniversary of Scouting in Ripley and Heanor is taking place in the Gallery at the Tourist Information Centre, Market Place, Ripley from 2 October to 30 October 2007. Entry to the exhibition is free of charge.
The exhibition will feature local photographs showing Scouting ‘through the ages’, including some of the earliest known photographs of Scouting activities in the area through to those showing current day activities. There will also be uniforms from across the years on display, along with books, flags, cigarette cards and other Scouting memorabilia. Some of the items on display will be especially related to local Scouting, others to Scouting in general.
Visitors can also pick up a number of leaflets with more information about Scouting opportunities available locally and read or take away some of the magazines published by the Scout Association.
