Creating a stir to help fight cancer

20 September 2007

The team at the Tourist Information Centre in Ripley are getting together with customers, colleagues and over two million other people across the UK to take part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Councillor Peter Arnold, Mayor of Amber Valley, will be dropping into the Centre for a coffee during the morning. He said: “Cancer affects so many people’s lives, but we can all do something positive to help.

“Macmillan nurses do a fantastic job providing much needed support for those diagnosed with the disease and their families. All the money we raise will help fund the specialist Macmillan medical staff, as well as information and counselling centres, buildings for cancer treatment and care, and grants for people with cancer who are in financial difficulty.

“We hope lots of people will come along to the Tourist Information Centre, join us for a coffee and a cake, and help us raise money for this worthwhile cause.”

The coffee morning is taking place on Friday 28 September from 10.00am to 12 noon; everyone is welcome to come along and join in the fun.

For more information or to donate a cake call the Tourist Information Centre, Town Hall, Market Place, Ripley, Derbyshire on 01773 841488.
