After weeks of waiting, Amber Valley Borough Council’s tourism team is celebrating after finding out it has won an award at this year’s East Midlands Enjoy England Excellence Awards.
The team joined colleagues from tourism businesses from across the region on the 10 October at the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham, for a night of celebrations to mark the final of the 2007 Awards. Known as the tourism ‘Oscars’, these awards recognise and reward outstanding tourism businesses that help make the region so attractive to visitors.
The Council’s Tourist Information Centre, based in the Town Hall at Ripley, was presented with a Bronze Award in the category of ‘Tourist Information Centre of the Year’.
Councillor Stephen Hayes, Deputy Leader of Amber Valley Borough Council and Cabinet Member with responsibility for Tourism said “This is excellent news for everyone within the Tourist Information team. I’m delighted that they have received official recognition for all their hard work in providing such an outstanding service for visitors to the area.”
