Schools battle it out to become hockey champions

09 November 2007

Nineteen primary schools from across the Borough took part in the recent annual Amber Valley hockey competitions, which were organised by Amber Valley Borough Council’s Sports Development team.

The finals took place at Belper Hockey Club for both small and large schools. The small schools winners were Emmanuel School, with Breadsall finishing runners up. The large schools competition was fiercely contested, with William Gilbert School in Duffield narrowly beating Kilburn for the trophy.

Ben Mills from Belper Hockey Club and volunteers on the Sports Development Leadership Programme helped to umpire the games. For further information on becoming a sports leader or volunteer in Amber Valley please contact Sarah Bingham on 01773 841528.
