Closure of entrance to Whysall Street car park

The steps leading from the entrance to Whysall Street car park in Heanor to an unadopted service road behind properties on Market Street have been permanently closed.

Amber Valley Borough Council decided to close the steps after they were found to be unsafe for public use, beyond economic repair and would not in any event meet current access requirements. They have now been fenced off.

Pedestrians wishing to gain access from the car park to Market Street will still be able to do so via the steps at the rear of Heanor Town Hall. There is also a ramp at this entrance providing disabled persons’ access.
