Time is running out for local community groups and voluntary organisations to apply for funding to help improve their local environment.
Amber Valley Borough Council’s Environment Grant Fund, which is administered by Groundwork Derby & Derbyshire, provides grants for community-led environmental projects. Groups are being encouraged to apply for this funding before the end of this financial year (31 March).
Councillor Jack Brown, Cabinet Member for Clean and Green at Amber Valley Borough Council said “We want to encourage as many local community groups as possible to apply for this funding to help get their projects off the ground. The funding can be used for a whole host of initiatives, such as creating a community garden or wildlife area, restoring neglected woodlands, improving access to public spaces or providing seating areas in villages and towns.”
All applications will be assessed for suitability against an environmental and community criteria and have to comply with the conditions of the scheme to be successful. Grants can also be used for match funding against larger schemes where other funding is secured.
Application forms are available from Ripley Town Hall and can be printed off the Council website www.ambervalley.gov.uk by clicking on the ‘Community Grants’ section.
