As our weather becomes more unpredictable and the price of fuel goes up, it is important we understand how to keep our homes warm and safe, as well as keeping ourselves healthy through the winter months.
As the freeze of winter starts to thaw, many of us will forget about the worries of keeping our homes warm and funding the ever-increasing price of our gas bills during the colder months, but it is now that we should be thinking about preparing ourselves.
Derbyshire County PCT (Primary Care Trust), Erewash Borough Council and Amber Valley Borough Council have all joined forces this month to host a Warm and Well event. The event, which has been funded by Derbyshire PCT’s Choosing Health budget, will take place on Monday 25 February at the Bridge Centre, Cromford Road, Langley Mill from 10am to 2.30pm.
The event will tackle everyday concerns for many residents, including:
- How to access benefits for your home;
- How to access funding to help make your home more energy efficient ie Warm Front grants;
- How to improve your energy efficiency throughout the home;
- How to feel safe in your own home; and
- Health checks ie blood pressure, blood sugar checks, BMI checks, advice on how to stop smoking, prevention of falls etc.
Not only will visitors to the event be able to access advice and guidance on all of the above, there will also be free low energy light bulbs being given away (while stocks last), a free light lunch available from 12noon to 1pm and a free prize draw.
