Residents’ magazine available in audio format

11 March 2008

Amber Valley Matters - the Borough Council’s free magazine – is being delivered to all homes and businesses in Amber Valley this week.

For the first time Amber Valley Borough Council has worked with the RNIB (Royal National Institute for the Blind) to produce the magazine in audio format for anyone in the Borough who is blind or visually impaired.

Councillor Stuart Bradford, Leader of Amber Valley Borough Council, said: “Amber Valley Borough Council is committed to providing equal access to all its services, and that extends to our printed information. Council publications and public documents are available in audio format, but this is the first time we’ve worked with the RNIB to produce the residents’ magazine on CD for anyone in the Borough who is blind or visually impaired.”

The spring edition of Amber Valley Matters provides information on a wide range of topics, including the new Gold Card concessionary travel scheme, the Outreach holiday scheme for young people and our new garden waste collection scheme. It also contains up to date details of useful contacts within the Council, plus a list of all our recycling sites.

Copies of the magazine will also be available from local libraries, Ripley Town Hall reception, the leisure centres in Alfreton, Belper, Heanor and Ripley, Council Town Centre Offices and the Tourist Information Centre in Ripley.

Residents who wish to receive an audio-recording of Amber Valley Matters should contact Lisa Garnham at Amber Valley Borough Council on 01773 841655.

Ends.
