Exhibition celebrating Erewash Canal

An exhibition celebrating the Erewash Canal and the Great Northern Basin at Langley Mill is being held at the Tourist Information Centre, Town Hall, Ripley from Thursday 3 April 2008 until Tuesday 29 April 2008. Entry to the exhibition is free of charge.

The exhibition is being presented by the Erewash Canal Preservation and Development Association to celebrate its 40th anniversary and 35 years since the re-opening of the Great Northern Basin, Langley Mill.

The exhibition will comprise of a variety of artefacts and memorabilia relating to canals and canal boats, and photographs charting the development and re-opening of the Basin.

Notes for editors:

The Tourist Information Centre is open on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays between 9.30am and 5.30pm, on Wednesdays between 10am and 5.30pm and on Saturdays between 9.30am and 3pm.

There is a large Boat Rally taking place from the 23rd to 26th May 2008 at Langley Mill to celebrate the two anniversaries.
