Draft development brief now available for public consultation

21 May 2008

Amber Valley Borough Council has published a draft development brief for Hands Road in Heanor. The brief is now available for public consultation.

The development brief, if approved by the Planning Board, will guide potential developers on the redevelopment of the Hands Road site, which is owned by the Council and comprises the Council Depot and parts of the former Leisure Centre. The draft brief outlines the physical characteristics of the site and sets out the basic design principles that interested developers would need to incorporate into any future planning applications.

Brian Twigg, Development Services Manager at Amber Valley Borough Council said “ We have set aside a period of public consultation to give people the opportunity to share their views on any future development proposals prior to consideration of the final version of the brief by the Planning Board. If the brief is approved it will set out guidelines at an early stage for what the Council wants to see happen to the site.”

The draft development brief is available for public consultation until Friday 11 July 2008. The document can be viewed on the Amber Valley Borough Council website www.ambervalley.gov.uk

In response to requests made by residents at the public meeting on Monday 19 May, Council Leader Stuart Bradford also arranged for copies of the development brief to be made available at the following locations:

  • Heanor Town Centre Office, Town Hall, Market Place, Heanor
  • Heanor and Loscoe Town Council, Town Hall, Market Place, Heanor
  • Heanor Library, Ilkeston Road, Heanor
