Manage the risk of starting in business

19 May 2008

Starting a new business can be risky – but a free training course being run by Amber Valley Borough Council and Business Link aims to help you minimise those risks and give your business the best chance of getting off the ground.

Jane Bexon, Enterprise Development Officer at Amber Valley Borough Council said:

“The harsh reality is that 60% of new businesses fail within the first five years due to cashflow problems and bad debts. It can be difficult to ensure that customers pay their bills on time, but late or non-payment of debt can seriously damage a businesses cashflow. To help combat this, Amber Valley Borough Council and Business Link are working together to provide free training to help new businesses reduce this risk.”

The training has two main themes:

  • How to minimise the risk of late payments and bad debts
  • How to chase debts effectively and efficiently using the most appropriate method

The Managing Risk training session is taking place on 4 June 2008, from 9.30am until 1.00pm at the Genesis Centre in Alfreton. To book your free place, please call Jane Bexon at Amber Valley Borough Council on 01773 841484.

Ends.
