Council commitment to engaging with local communities

26 June 2008

Amber Valley Borough Council has published its first ever Engagement Strategy.

The Strategy details the ways in which the Council actively seeks the views of the local community and the various opportunities available for people to have their say on the services it delivers. It also outlines how the Council is working with its partners to provide new and innovate opportunities to enable all sections of the community to play their role in influencing future decisions and services.

Councillor Liz Bowley, Cabinet Member for People and Change at Amber Valley Borough Council said: “This Strategy is our commitment to involving the community in our decision-making processes and giving people the opportunity to have their say on the services we provide.

“We have devoted significant time and effort to engage with residents, stakeholders and partners in and around the Borough in order to help us form a clear understanding of what services people want and need. We’ve published this Strategy because it’s important to us that people are aware of the many ways they can play a part in directly influencing and informing Council decision-making.”

The document also outlines the various ways the Council consults with local residents, including the Amber Valley Consultation Panel and Local Community Forums.
