Moonlight walk raises £300 for breast cancer

13 June 2008

Staff and customers at William Gregg VC Leisure Centre in Heanor have joined together in their support for Melanie McCormick, Pre-School Assistant at the Leisure Centre, who participated in the Playtex Moonwalk 2008 in May. Together they raised £300 for their local breast cancer charity.

The Moonwalk is a marathon walk through London during the night to raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer. One in ten women experience some form of breast cancer during their lifetime.

Melanie said, “I did the walk in support of my friend Michelle who lost her mum to breast cancer, and to support her sister-in-law, who is now in remission. It was a fantastic event but very hard work. It took us 6 hours, 59 minutes and 38 seconds.

We would like to thank all our family and friends, and the staff and customers at William Gregg VC Leisure Centre, for their support and generosity.”
