Green grants for businesses in Amber Valley

23 July 2008

Funding is now available for businesses in Amber Valley interested in reducing their energy consumption or improving their shop frontage.

The Amber Valley Partnership has secured funding from Derby and Derbyshire Economic Partnership (DDEP) to run a programme of grants for local businesses from 2008 to 2011. Three grants are available - Commercial Space Green Grants, Resource Efficiency Grants and Shop Front Improvement Grants.

Eligible projects could include shop front improvements, installation of low energy appliances, lighting, insulation, heating and water recycling systems. All project ideas can be discussed with the Economic Development team at Amber Valley Borough Council.

Grants will be available for up to 50% of the cost of installing energy efficient equipment or new shop frontages. The grants will be targeted at businesses in the main retail centres of Amber Valley. Projects that require planning permission will need to have permission approved by the Borough Council before a grant is issued.

Councillor Stephen Hayes, Deputy Leader of Amber Valley Borough Council and Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said: “The Amber Valley Partnership and Amber Valley Borough Council are committed to regenerating the market towns in the Borough. This project is a great opportunity for local businesses to improve their performance, reduce their impact on the environment and contribute to the regeneration of the Borough”.
