The Herbert Strutt Charitable Trust has received a welcome boost – thanks to members of the Belper Marlin Swimming Club.
Children from the Club recently took part in a sponsored swim at Belper Leisure Centre and raised £513 for the Trust. Members of the Club presented Councillor Alan Cox, Chairman of the charity’s management committee, with a cheque at their Summer Presentation Evening, which took place on 18 July at Belper Town Football Club.
Councillor Cox said, “On behalf of the Herbert Strutt Charitable Trust I’d like to thank everyone from Belper Marlin Swimming Club who worked so hard to raise this fantastic sum of money. It has provided a much welcomed boost for the Trust, and we will use the money to award grants to local community groups working directly on behalf of people living in and around Belper.”
Peter Marshall, Treasurer of the Belper Marlin Swimming Club said, “Credit must go to all the youngsters who took part in the swim and collected the sponsorship money – they did a wonderful job. The Club has benefited from the Trust in the past, so it was great to have the opportunity to be able to give something back.”
