Visitors to the Old Town Hall in Ripley are advised that the public lift inside the glass-covered entrance off the Market Place is currently out of order. As a result, access to the Council Chamber and Register Office for those requiring use of the lift will be temporarily disrupted.
The lift is expected to remain out of order for up to six weeks, while replacement parts, which are on order, arrive. Both the Council Chamber and Register Office remain accessible by stairs and a chair lift.
A lift in the main reception of the New Town Hall can be used if required to access the Council Chamber. Anyone wishing to use this lift will need to be escorted to and from the Chamber by caretaking staff, as the route passes through parts of the building not open to the public. Visitors wishing to access the Council Chamber by lift during normal office hours are advised to call into our main reception, and inform staff that you wish to use the lift. Visitors wishing to access the Council Chamber by lift during evenings and weekends should contact the Caretaker direct – details are posted on signs next to the lift in the Old Town Hall.
We are unable to provide alternative lift access to the Register Office, based on the first floor of the Old Town Hall. Anyone not able to access the Register Office using the stairs should inform the Registrar when making their appointment, and they will make arrangements to meet in a ground floor office.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused while the public lift is out of order.
Ends.
