Have your say on the Loscoe Dam Project

14 August 2008

Amber Valley Borough Council has joined forces with the National Coal Board Area Nº 5 Fishing Club, the Environment Agency, Holmes Brothers and design and business consultancy Pleydell Smithyman Limited to work together on an innovative project to preserve and enhance Loscoe Dam for the benefit of the local community and visitors to the area.

Following a grant award of £48,200 from the Heritage Lottery Fund, alongside funding from the Environment Agency and Heanor & Loscoe Town Council, the Group has begun work on a series of plans that will outline how the project is to be delivered. A key part of this is the consultation process which aims to engage the local community and encourage them to tell us how they would like to see the site develop in the future.

Getting people involved is key to the project’s success and two drop-in consultation sessions will be taking place in August:

  • Heanor Market on Saturday, 16th August 2008 between 10.00 and 13.00.
  • St Luke’s Church, Loscoe on Wednesday, 20th August 2008 between 15.00 and 19.00.

Representatives from the project group will be at both sessions to answer questions and there will also be a range of displays providing information on the possible options for the site. Members of the public who would like to find out more can visit the project website at www.loscoedamproject.org.
