Riddings Park Refurbishment
08 February 2010
RIDDINGS PARK REFURBISHMENT BEGINS
Following extensive public consultation in 2008, which provided information the Council required to produce a master plan for the future of Riddings Park,
work has now begun on major improvements to the popular park.
The first phase of work involves the pruning of trees and removal of dead or dying trees as a top priority, followed by clearing areas to allow for new paths and the improvement of overgrown areas and the installation of new fencing.
Council officers have checked the areas to be cleared to ensure there are no protected animals, and the work will stop before the nesting season begins to make sure nesting birds are not disturbed.
Commented Amber Valley Borough Council Cabinet Member for Cleaner Greener Safer, Cllr Jack Brown: "We are delighted that work on Riddings Park is at last underway, and excited about the impact it will make on this already popular local amenity. Work will be carried out with the utmost care to avoid any interference with wildlife."
