Council Tax Bandings for a Selected Financial Year
Council Tax Levels
Your local council (Amber Valley Borough Council) sets the council tax.
The amount set depends on how much it and certain other public bodies known as “Precepting Authorities” (Derbyshire County Council, Derbyshire Constabulary, Derbyshire Fire Authority, parish councils) in your area need to spend and how much money they get from elsewhere.
Amber Valley Borough Council issues the bills and then collects the council tax on behalf of all of the local Precepting Authorities (Derbyshire County Council, Derbyshire Constabulary, Derbyshire Fire Authority, parish councils). Amber Valley Borough Council uses only about 11% of the council tax that Amber Valley Borough Council collects in; the remaining 89% is paid over to the Precepting Authorities
At a Full Council meeting held on the 3 March 2008, Council Members agreed the level of Council Tax for the year from the 1st April 2008 to 31st March 2009. The figures are shown for each band in each parish. Annual Demand Notices relating to 2008/09 will be issued on Tuesday 11 March 2008 .
Important Note: The figures shown are before the award of any discount, reduction for disabilities scheme, exemption or Council tax benefit.
