The Government has recently announced changes to its national policy on planning for housing. The changes, set out in a new version of Planning Policy Statement 3 (PPS3), are as follows:-

  • The deletion of the national indicative minimum density of 30 dwellings per hectare
  • The exclusion of private residential gardens from the definition of 'previous developed' or brownfield land

These changes have implications for how the Borough Council will need to consider planning applications for housing development.
