The Heanor Town Centre Area Action Plan is the first of a series of Area Action Plans (AAPs) for each of Amber Valley's town centres, in order to provide a range of spatial planning policies and proposals to support town centre regeneration.
The first stage in producing this Area Action Plan is an 'Options for Change' document. Feedback on the issues and the options set out in this document will help to shape the development of preferred options, which will then be the subject of a more formal consultation exercise.
The consultation period on the 'Options for Change' document will run for 12 weeks, from Friday 17 November 2006 to Wednesday 31 January 2007.

In addition to the production of this document, a Sustainability Appraisal (SA) of the Area Action Plan is being conducted in line with the requirements of the Compulsory Purchase Act 2004. As part of the SA process for this Area Action Plan, a preliminary appraisal of the Area Action Plan objectives and options have been carried out. This process presents a casual examination of the internal compatibility of the Area Action Plan objectives and tests the Area Action Plan objectives and options against a sustainability appraisal framework.
The first stage of the SA process has involved the preparation of a scoping report. This has been subject to formal consultation with prescribed statutory bodies. An addendum to the SA Scoping report has been prepared, taking into account comments received following consultation with these agencies. The purpose of the SA scoping process has been to focus on the sustainability objectives and local issues that need to be considered in the preparation of the Area Action Plan.
