Ironville Planning Guidance Statement

This document has been produced in order to provide detailed guidance on appropriate uses for land which have the potential for development in Ironville, as part of the work being carried out by the Renaissance Ironville group to work with other partners to improve the economy, environment and the quality and mix of housing in Ironville. The purpose of this guidance statement is to:-

  • set out clearly the Borough Council’s vision for the future use and development of under utilised land in Ironville
  • give greater certainty to existing landowners, prospective developers, and the local community as to an appropriate form and scale of new development of under utilised land in Ironville
  • support established planning policies, by providing more detailed guidance against which specific development proposals can be considered
  • complement existing initiatives which seek to improve the character, appearance, economy of the village and provide additional community facilities
  • complement existing plans to restore the Cromford Canal, including the Pinxton Branch to assist in making Ironville a more desirable, attractive and prosperous place for people to live and visit, by improving the quality of housing in terms of size, style and tenure
  • to provide an efficient pattern of land use and development within Ironville to contribute towards the enhancement of the character, appearance and prosperity of Ironville

The draft Statement identifies a number of under utilised sites which may have the potential for possible development in Ironville.
