Open Spaces Assessment Report

In May 2005, the Borough Council received a comprehensive assessment of the needs and opportunities for open space in Amber Valley. Produced on behalf of the Borough Council by consultants Knight Kavanagh & Page (KKP), the assessment is consistent with Government policy guidance, as set out in Planning Policy Guidance Note 17: Planning for Open Space, Sport and Recreation (PPG17) and ‘Assessing Needs and Opportunities: A Companion Guide to PPG17’.

The assessment will inform:-

• the preparation of a Borough-wide Open Spaces Strategy

• a review of current planning policies for parks, playing fields and open space
