We all need to reduce the amount of waste we generate because we are running out of landfill sites where rubbish is just dumped in a hole. The Government has imposed statutory recycling targets, which, if not met could lead to financial penalties being imposed and have an effect on Council Tax levels. For Amber Valley, the current recycling rate of dry recycling and greenwaste is 28.5%. By 2010, the Council will aspire to reach 30%.
Your recycling materials are collected on the same day as your refuse collection, but on alternate weeks e.g. ‘non-recyclable rubbish’ in your green wheeled bin collected one week and recycling materials in boxes, orange bag and a blue bag collected the next and so on.
Orange box is for cans and foil;
Yellow box for glass bottles and jars;
Blue bag is for papers and magazines;
Orange bag is for all types of card (including yellow page directories and hardback books)
