Your recyclable materials are collected on the same day as your refuse collection but on alternate weeks e.g. ‘non-recyclable rubbish’ in your green wheeled bin is collected one week and recycling materials in boxes, orange bag and a blue bag are collected the next week.
Recycling Equipment Provided
Orange box is for cans and foil;
Yellow box for glass bottles and jars;
Blue bag is for papers;
Orange bag is for all types of card
Only one orange bag of card will be collected due to restricted space on the vehicle. However you can put out more than one container / bag of paper, cans or glass. If you regularly produce a lot of these recyclable materials please contact the refuse hotline regarding additional containers.
Collection Calendar
A collection calendar is delivered to each household every year. Alternatively you can check your collection date by looking at 'my property' for details and this will tell you when your next collection is. Please note that there is a different system in place for communal complexes.
Assisted Collections
We provide an assisted collection service for the elderly or infirm who cannot put out their boxes or bins themselves. Please contact the refuse hotline for more information.

Waste Management in the Future
We all need to reduce the amount of waste we generate because we are running out of landfill sites where most of our rubbish is taken to be buried in the ground. Disposing of recyclable materials in a landfill site is a waste of valuable resources.
The Government has imposed statutory recycling targets, which, if not met could lead to financial penalties being imposed and have an effect on Council Tax levels.
The national targets for reuse / recycling and composting set out by the Government in the Waste Strategy 2007 are listed below.
| Government Target Years | Reuse / Recycling / Composting to be Acheived |
| 2005 | 27% |
| 2010 | 40% |
| 2015 | 45% |
