The Council judges its performance against the achievement of its short, medium and long term objectives which are set until 2015. Performance is assessed against the achievement of following:
- The overall vision
- 6 long term strategic objectives
- 15 priorities for improvement
- An annual Corporate Action Plan designed to deliver the 15 priorities for improvement

2004-05 Performance
The Audit Commission made the following findings in relation to Amber Valley Borough Council since the Comprehensive Performance Assessment in 2004.
- Council has identified its strategic objectives in its corporate plan which reflects its priorities for improvement
- Made improvements across priority services areas
- Improved access to services
- Achieved high levels of street cleanliness and improving waste recycling
- Performance of best value performance indicators is mixed
- Alligned the community plan and the Council's corporate plan
- Introduced a new performance management framework
Action plans are in place deliver improvements within under performing areas and to strive for continuous improvement across the Council.
The outcome of the 2005/06 Audit and Inspection letter will be available later in the financial year.
