Business planning

Description of service

We can assist you with your business plan. Business planning is an essential task when starting in business. Help is at hand through the Economic Development Team who can guide you through the process, including analysing finances and carrying out market research.

Planning Permission when working from home

Planning Law does allow a business to run from a house provided it does not change the character of the property.

If your business relies on other people working there, extensive deliveries, or causes noise or disturbance etc, you will need planning permission as there will have been change from the ordinary use of the property as a house.

However, Planning Permission is unlikely to be needed if the householder is working alone in a study or spare room and there are no deliveries.

If you are thinking of running a business from home, please check with the Development Control Department about planning permission.
