The Types of Benefit Fraud
There are numerous types of fraud in relation to benefit the main ones being:
- Living Together - Claimants state they live alone when they do not
- Income - Claimants understate or do not declare household income (other benefits or work)
- Capital - Claimants do not tell us about bank accounts, shares property etc.
- False residency - Claimants and or landlords make a claim for a property where they do not live
- Contrived tenancy - Claimants and or landlords try to claim where no rent liability exists
60% of all benefit fraud comes from fraudulent claims for Income Support, Jobseeker’s Allowance and Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit. We take benefit fraud seriously and we are continuously reducing and tackling fraud jointly with the DWP.
Civil partnership is a new legal relationship, which can be registered by two people of the same sex. It came into force on 5 December 2005 and gave same-sex couples the ability to obtain legal recognition for their relationship.
